More Steak Deals

More Steak Deals

Note: This post originated March 14 and was updated April 4, 2009.  On April 14 these deals were verified as still active.

Earlier this week we wrote about the specials popping up at high end steak houses like Mortons and Ruths Chris.   We can’t all afford those places even at the special prices we found, so  here is our roundup of deals at the lower end places.

To start off here is a new deal we found on March 14.  Black Angus is serving prime rib dinners for $13.99 with the coupon below.  The coupon is not on their website though so you’ll have to print this one.

Ordinarily we do not expect to find the specials at the high end steak houses like Mortons and Ruths Chris.  But we live in extraordinary times.
And some of the finest steak houses now have specials.  Here are several we have come across.
  • Mortons has a three-course steak or seafood dinner for two for $99 ($109 in some locations).  Link to deal.
  • Ruths Chris has a three-course steak and seafood Classics fixed price menu for $39. Link to deal.
  • Sullivans has a $29 steak or salmon three course meal till 6 p.m.  Link to deal.

If you’ve tried any of these we would like to hear from you.

What is EatDrinkDeals?

Our San Diego google map of specials

Our San Diego google map of specials

So what is this EatDrinkDeals web site and who is behind it?  The creators of EatDrinkDeals are three guys who live in different parts of the country. One of us is in Raleigh, NC, another on the West Coast, and another in Nashville, TN.

For each of us, our hobbies include web-related stuff, and eating out a lot. We love great food and wine and other drinks. But we’re cheapskates.

A few years ago we started keeping track of who had deals on what nights. We each kept a little calendar book with the deal information. Our goal was to have options for inexpensive food and drink every night of the week. Nothing pleased us more than to find two-for-one appetizers at an upscale restaurant, $25 off coupons, half-priced wine, or, the Holy Grail, free beer and free food.

Our friends started asking us for the deal lists, and so we decided to try it out on the web.  Since going out is location-centric, a map seemed like the right interface, and so a Google Map is where we started.   We started with Raleigh, NC, and now cover about 20 cities.  The cities we cover are listed on the right.  Click on one and it will take you to the map.

Alongside the map is the list of restaurants and bars we cover for the city you’ve selected. To get details on a place, including its specials, click on the name in the list, or click on the place in the map. Every place on the map is in the list, and vice versa.

To see a different location, click on “Select City”. To see only the specials for a certain day, click on “Specials”.

You can also see all the specials at a glance by switching to Table View.

We hope to have all the main bars and restaurants on our map. We’re combing the web and local publications for specials. When we find one we put it in the map marker.

We’d like to hear from you. Either send an email to us at owner@eatdrinkdeals.com or register and post your comments here.

Sincerely,

GM Arnold (covering the East Coast), MW Arnold (West Coast), and RE Arnold (Southern U.S.).
