EXPIRED Veterans Day is Friday, November 11, 2016, today and many restaurant chains including Applebee’s, Bob Evans, Chili’s, Hooters, and IHOP have free meals to honor the nation’s veterans.
Most deals are on the official Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2016 but some deals were held early, especially at McCormick & Schmick’s, which had their free Veterans meal on Sunday, November 6, 2016. Another major chain that supports the annual event, Golden Corral, will have their free buffet for veterans after Veterans Day, on Monday, November 14, 2016.

Veterans Day 2016 Deals
For the ninth consecutive year, Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar® will honor veterans and active members of the United States military by offering each a free meal at any of the nearly 1,900 Applebee’s restaurants in the U.S. on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, 2016.
Since 2008, Applebee’s restaurants across the country have served almost eight million free meals to veterans and active duty military personnel on Veterans Day. This year all current and former military personnel will also receive a $5 coupon that can be redeemed between November 12 and November 27, 2016.
Applebee’s will offer seven of its signature menu items on its Veterans Day menu:
- Butcher’s Meat and Potatoes – The classic steakhouse cut, savory to the last bite. Served with seasonal vegetables and a choice of garlic mashed potatoes or baked potato.
- Oriental Chicken Salad – Fresh Asian greens tossed in a tasty Oriental vinaigrette and topped with crispy noodles, toasted almonds and golden fried chicken.
- Fiesta Lime Chicken® — Grilled chicken done fiesta style, with zesty lime sauce, Mexi-ranch and Jack cheddar, served with crisp tortilla strips, seasoned rice and freshly made pico de gallo.
- Chicken Tenders Platter – Tender, juicy, breaded and downright delicious, served with Honey Dijon mustard, fries and cole slaw.
Double Crunch Shrimp – A generous portion of succulent shrimp, golden fried to crunchy perfection and served with fries, cole slaw and cocktail sauce.
- Three-Cheese Chicken Penne – A blend of Italian cheeses tops a rich mix of penne pasta, grilled chicken, bruschetta tomatoes, fresh basil and creamy Alfredo sauce.
- American Standard All-In Burger® — The Applebee’s signature burger, with pickles, bacon and onion seared in and topped with American cheese and grill sauce.
Arooga’s announced that all veterans and troops are eligible to receive one complimentary item from a fixed menu including some of Arooga’s favorites such as:
Crab Pretzel, Buffalo Pretzel, Arooga’s Chopped Salad, Blackened Chicken Caesar Salad, Buffalo Chicken Flatbread, Wagyu Cheeseburger, Wagyu Grilled Dog, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, Grilled Cheese and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup, Spicy Italian Wrap or Sub, Original Boli, and, of course, their world famous boneless wings (10) tossed in any one of their more than 30 sauce creations.

Veterans and active duty military get a free appetizer or entree at Bar Louie on Veterans Day. Maximum value $12. The sports bar chain announced the deal on Facebook. Bar Louie has about 70 locations.
Ben’s Soft Pretzels
Ben’s Soft Pretzels, an Amish-inspired soft pretzel bakery offering preservative free pretzels, is offering veterans a free Jumbo Soft Pretzel at participating locations on Veterans Day. Ben’s Soft Pretzels has about 71 locations nationwide.
Veterans can get a free individual pizza or other entree with purchase of another at regular priceed. Good for lunch or dinner. Dine-in only.
BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse
Black Angus Steakhouse
Black Angus Steakhouse will provide veterans and active military a complimentary meal on Veterans Day. All 46 Black Angus locations will serve a Top Sirloin Steak with mashed potatoes, broccoli with garlic butter and Sweet Molasses Bread. This Veterans Day special will be available during each restaurant’s operating hours on 11/11 with valid military I.D.
Bob Evans has free meals on Veterans Day plus a military discount good later this year.
New this year, veterans and active duty military personnel will have the choice of select lunch and dinner menu items, in addition to the following popular breakfast entrees (available all day):
- Stack of Hotcakes (Buttermilk or Multigrain) – A stack of four fluffy hotcakes served with warm syrup
- Fresh Baked Brioche French Toast – Two griddled slices of rich, house-baked Brioche bread, dipped in real egg batter made with natural vanilla and cinnamon, then griddled to golden-brown
- Country Biscuit Breakfast – A fresh baked buttermilk biscuit topped with one egg cooked-to-order, fresh never frozen sausage, creamy country gravy and shredded cheddar cheese. The dish is served with a choice of hash browns, home fries or grits
- Mini Sampler Breakfast – One egg cooked-to-order with a choice of hash browns, home fries or grits. It’s served with two fresh never frozen sausage links or thick bacon strips and freshly baked bread
- Farmboy Sandwich – Sausage patty, American cheese, onion and pickles on a Kaiser bun served with French fries
- Country Fried Steak – Savor size of tender beef lightly breaded and fried, then topped with creamy country gravy. Served with mashed potatoes and country gravy.
Guests wishing to enjoy a free meal on Veterans Day, or use the 10 percent discount (good November 12 – December 31, 2016) must provide proof of service. Eligible identification includes a U.S. Uniformed Services (current or retired) Identification Card, a current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), or a Veterans’ organization card (American Legion or VFW, for example). Guests wearing a military uniform on Veterans Day also are eligible.
To reinforce the company’s commitment to the military, Bob Evans Farms painted its iconic barn purple, a color that represents every branch of service. Also, throughout 2016, in partnership with the Gary Sinise Foundation and the Serving Heroes program, Bob Evans Farms, Inc. will serve more than 6,000 meals to military heroes and their families at military bases, USO centers and VAs across the country. All active and retired service members with a valid military ID can get a free Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer on Veterans Day at Bonefish Grill. No coupon and no purchase required. Bonefish Grill has about 215 locations.
All active duty or retired military personnel and their families can receive one free brownie or cookie with any purchase on Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11). No ID required. Boston Market has about 462 locations.
In appreciation of our Veteran’s, Bruegger’s will offer one Free Small Drip Coffee for any United States veteran and active military member who shows their military ID on Friday, November 11. Brueger’s has about 300 locations in the U.S.
California Pizza Kitchen

Veterans and active duty military get a free appetizer at Carrabba’s restaurants on Veterans Day plus every day through Sunday, November 13, 2016. The Italian restaurant chain announced the deal on Facebook. Carrabba’s has about 250 locations.
Cheeseburger in Paradise
In honor of those who serve, Chipotle Mexican Grill has a special buy-one-get-one promotion from 3 p.m. to close on Veteran’s Day. BOGOs will be offered to all active duty military, reserves, national guard, military spouses, retired military with a valid U.S. military ID and veterans with ID, at all restaurants in the US. The offer is valid on burritos, bowls, salads and taco orders.
“We have always appreciated the service of our active and retired military, and the support they have provided us over the years,” said Chris Arnold, communications director at Chipotle. “This is a small way for us to recognize the contributions these extraordinary individuals make, and give us a chance to serve them.”

Veterans dining at Cracker Barrel on Veterans Day receive a complimentary slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola Cake as thanks for their service. The family dining chain announced the Veterans Day deal in This Email. Cracker Barrel has about 639 locations.
Denny’s is inviting active, inactive and retired military personnel to come in for a free Build Your Own Grand Slam® on Friday, Nov. 11, from 5 a.m. to noon.
At participating locations nationwide, diners with a valid military ID will receive a complimentary Build Your Own Grand Slam®, which includes four breakfast items such as new fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes, eggs cooked to order, sizzling bacon strips, seasonal fruit or hash browns.

Veterans and active military who eat at Dickey’s Friday, November 11th, can enjoy a free meal which includes a sandwich, side and a Big Yellow Cup, up to a $12 total value. As a thank you to the families and loved ones of the veterans, Dickey’s is offering anyone in the party that dines with a veteran a free Big Yellow Cup with purchase this Veterans Day. The BBQ chain announced the deal on the Dickey’s Promo Page. Dickey’s has about 530 locations in 43 states.
Fogo de Chão Brazilian Steakhouse
All military veterans and active duty personnel with valid military ID will receive 50% off their meal at Fogo de Chao on Veteran’s Day, plus up to three additional guests will receive 10% off their meals. Offer is valid at all U.S. and Puerto Rico Fogo de Chão locations. Beverages, dessert, tax and gratuity not included. Fogo de Chao announced the deal on Facebook. Fogo de Chao has about 30 locations.
Friendly’s is treating veterans and active military to a free breakfast, lunch or dinner on Veterans Day. Eligible guests are invited to start their day with the Big-Two-Do® breakfast.
Breakfast comes with Brioche French toast, buttermilk pancakes or two slices of toast; applewood-smoked bacon or two sausage links, and two eggs. Veterans will also be treated to a fresh cup of coffee.
For veterans preferring to dine at Friendly’s for lunch or dinner, the restaurant is showing their appreciation with a complimentary All-American Burger with fries and a beverage .

Golden Corral announced that on Monday, November 14, 2016 (the Monday after Veterans Day), the buffet chain will once again serve more than 330,000 active duty and retired military personnel with a free dinner buffet and beverage.
A tradition started in 2001 to celebrate our nation’s heroes, Military Appreciation Night has served more than 4.7 million complimentary meals to military personnel and generated more than $11.5 million dollars in guest contributions to support community-based service initiatives for veterans.
Golden Corral has again enlisted actor Gary Sinise and Collective Soul, the platinum award-winning band, to record public service announcements for Military Appreciation Night. Sinise and Collective Soul are all actively involved in supporting active duty and retired military personnel through a variety of organizations and initiatives including tours to military installations overseas.

IHOP Restaurants nationwide will again serve a complimentary stack of patriotic Red, White & Blue Pancakes on Veterans Day. On Friday, November 11, 2016, Veterans and Active Duty Military can enjoy three of IHOP restaurant’s Buttermilk Pancakes with glazed strawberries, blueberry compote and whipped topping for free at participating U.S. locations between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Select IHOP restaurants will also offer a combo of two eggs, hash browns and choice of two bacon strips or pork sausage links as part of the Red, White & Blue Pancake promotion for retired and active duty military personnel. Guests should check with their local IHOP restaurant for additional details.

Krispy Kreme will celebrate Veteran’s Day on Friday, November 11y offering a Free Doughnut (any variety) and a Small Coffee to all Veterans at participating Krispy Kreme locations. No purchase necessary. A free doughnut and small coffee will be given to anyone who identifies themselves as a veteran or active duty military personnel (no ID required).
Krystal has free Sausage Biscuits for veterans from opening until 11 am on Veterans Day.

McCormick & Schmick’s, an upscale seafood chain, had their annual free lunch or dinner for veterans on Sunday, November 6, 2016. There are no events planned on Veterans Day.
Miller’s Ale House
All military veterans and active duty personnel with valid military ID will receive 50% off their meal at Miller’s Ale House on Veteran’s Day. The chain announced the deal on Facebook. Miller’s Ale House has 77 locations.
The Veterans Day menu will be featured November 11 to 13 but the free entrée per veteran or active duty military personnel will be offered only November 11. Veterans and active duty may also enjoy $5.99 choices from the special menu for themselves at breakfast, lunch and dinner Saturday and Sunday before Veterans Day.

Native Grill & Wings
Native Grill & Wings a restaurant chain known for its 20 wing flavors guests can order by the individual wing, will be offering veterans and active duty service men and women any menu item for free all day. Please bring retired or existing military ID to receive a free meal valid up to $11.99.

Olive Garden restaurants will offer a free entrée from a special menu, featuring six of the restaurant’s most popular items. Entrees are served with unlimited homemade soup or famous house salad and warm, garlic breadsticks. Olive Garden announced the Veterans Day deal in a press release.

On the Border has a free Combo Meal for all veterans and active military. The free meal is good all day on Friday, November 11, 2016, at participating locations. One free meal per person. This Veterans Day, Outback Steakhouse is again honoring all active and retired military members with a free Bloomin’ Onion and a beverage by showing a valid military ID at participating restaurants on Veterans Day. Steak ‘n Shake
TGI Fridays has a free lunch for active and retired U.S. military service members this Veterans Day. On Friday, November 11, guests who show their military ID will be treated to a free lunch menu item up to $12 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. local time.
“Fridays has a proud, longstanding history of supporting our U.S. military men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting and serving our country,” said Cindy Syracuse, vice president of marketing activation at TGI Fridays. “We are honored to be able to give back to our military on Veteran’s Day by encouraging them to take a break and enjoy a free lunch on us.”
