Since the advent of the smartphone revolution about ten years ago, the world has changed at a drastic pace, and the restaurant industry is no exception. Many restaurant chains large and small have launched their own apps to make dining more convenient and offer rewards for their loyal customers. At EatDrinkDeals, we are committed to helping our users find the best restaurant value for their money, no matter where the deals may be found. Therefore, we are starting a new series of reviews of restaurant apps. This next review is for “The Home of The Whopper” itself, Burger King.
You can check out our roundup of Burger King coupons and other promotions in our story here.
Convenience and Reliability
First off, upon downloading the app you should register with your name and email address. Unlike many other restaurant apps, you don’t necessarily need to sign up for yet another rewards account, and you don’t need to enter payment info up front. We found the startup process just in general to be easier and faster than with other apps – and we’ve seen a lot! To order, you can get started just about anywhere. You can click on the “Offers” button to look at the available coupons (more on that below), you can hit the “Restaurants” button to pick your location first, or you can start with the “Order” button, which will then allow you to select your location. You can enter orders for dine in, take out, or drive thru. Compared to some of the other apps, this one is just about foolproof. There’s a Reorder button also to let you quickly get your go-to items in a hurry.
Rewards and Savings
Burger King stands out from the crowd with the deals exclusive to the app, both in terms of value and convenience. Click on the “Offers” section and you’ll find a large variety of coupons to probably fit what you want to eat. The coupons are clearly explained, along with their expiration date. For example, upon opening my app, you’ll see coupons for a $5 Whopper Meal, $8.99 for 2 Whopper Meals, $5 for 2 Oreo shakes, and many more. Using them is easy, and can be done for orders in the app or at the restaurant. For example, here’s how to score the popular $5 monthly subscription for coffee:
Burger King bucks the trend of gamification and doesn’t have any rewards program. This is actually a refreshing change of pace. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to start getting free stuff or good deals. You download the app, you order the food you want, and more likely than not you can find a coupon on the Offers page to help you save a couple of bucks.
Is Burger King one of the best restaurant apps to save your money?
If you’re looking for trendy points programs, or access to “exclusive” menu items, you won’t find it here. Burger King’s app is a no frills affair, with a straightforward ordering process and direct immediate access to valuable coupons. Some restaurant apps can make your head spin with their convoluted systems. Burger King’s approach is a welcome change of pace.
